Community, Business Leader Ralph Reid Named Interim CEO for American Jazz Museum

Bop Lives: Panel Discussion

Moderated by American Jazz Museum Education Manager Bill McKemy, this panel discussion will explore the significance of Bird’s influence on musical and scholarly output in today’s environment. Panelists include:
Scott DeVeaux, Professor of Critical and Comparative Studies, University of Virginia. Author of The Birth of Bebop: A Social and Musical History and co-author of Jazz with Gary Giddins.
Clay Jenkins, Trumpet Player, Recording Artist, Jazz Studies faculty member at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and 2015 Charlie Parker Celebration Artist in Residence.
Chuck Haddix, Director of the Marr Sound Archive, University of Missouri Kansas City and author of Bird: the Life and Music of Charlie Parker and Kansas City Jazz: From Ragtime to Bebop.
