CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY FOUNDED AS THE INSTITUTE FOR COLORED YOUTH, 1837.
Cheyney University of Pennsylvania is known as the first institution of higher learning for Black people. It is the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
