Rosa Parks - COMMUNITY CREATOR

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Rosa Parks was born in 1913.

On 12/1/1955 she refused to give up her seat on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama, in the "colored section," to a white passenger.
Although she was not the first Black person to resist bus segregation, organizers for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People believed she was the best candidate for seeing this action through court proceedings.

Her act of defiance became the symbol for the modern Civil Rights Movement.
