ELIZABETH HOBBS KECKLEY-1818-1907-Seamstress-Author
An ex-slave who bought her freedom in 1852. She was an expert seamstress and dressmaker. In 1861 she became the dress-designer, personal modiste and confidante of Mary Todd Lincoln, the President's wife.
