Tuesday, March 3rd Harlem Heroes from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Hall of Fame Jazz for Curious Listeners 7:00-8:30pm Host: Seton Hawkins Location: The National Jazz Museum in Harlem Suggested Donation: $10 Mary Lou Williams was a Harlem icon for decades, where her Hamilton Heights apartment became a musical salon where Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell and Dizzy Gillespie frequently gathered to exchange ideas and to learn from their mentor, Williams. Seton Hawkins, from Jazz at Lincoln Center, will share insights about Williams' long career, and relate her to other JALC Hall Of Fame members with a Harlem connection. Join the Facebook event here.  Thursday, March 5th Mari Kimura Parallax Conversation Series 7:00-8:30pm Location: The National Jazz Museum in Harlem Suggested Donation: $10 Technology and improvisation have been mutual partners in jazz's evolution ever since Louis Armstrong's 1920's recordings codified his impromptu solos and spread them around the globe, changing music around the world forever. Mari Kimura is an internationally celebrated violinist/composer who has not only expanded the range of her instrument through her own technique - Subharmonics - but who also pioneer in the field of interactive computer music. Ms. Kimura will be joined by Jonathan Scheuer, film producer with a wide range of musical knowledge. This will be an evening of fascinating insights and also music - Ms. Kimura will demonstrate some her original techniques.  Join the Facebook event here.  Tuesday, March 10th A Night at the Cotton Club Jazz for Curious Listeners 7:00-8:30pm Host: Loren Schoenberg Maysles Cinema 343 Malcolm X Boulevard, (Lenox Ave. between 127th/128th)   $10 Admission at the Door    The Cotton Club played a major role during the 1920's and 30's, employing the best African-American artists of the era, while at the same time running a segregated audience policy. We'll examine this complicated reality as we watch films of the great jazz bands that played there, including Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway. Join the Facebook event here.  Wednesday, March 18th Solomon Hicks Plays the Blues Jazz for Curious Listeners 7:00-8:30pm Location: The National Jazz Museum in Harlem Admission: $20 Teen guitar sensation Solomon Hicks first came to NJMH's attention last year when we asked to nominate a young Harlem musician for a highly regarded guitar workshop in the Northwest. Highly regarded by musicians and audiences alike for his infectious take on classic blues, we invite you to join is for an invigorating evening of truly classic music from an upcoming master of the blues.     Join the Facebook event here.  Wednesday, March 25th Listening Session with Jeff "Tain" Watts Jazz for Curious Listeners 7:00-8:30pm The National Jazz Museum in Harlem Suggested donation: $10     One of the best things about the NJMH's intimate space is the ability for audience members to experience music in a way that just can't happen in medium or large venues. Our series of listening sessions has been received with open arms over the past several years, and this evening will be a special one indeed as our host is one of the most acclaimed and influential jazz musicians of his generation, drummer Jeff "Tain Watts.
