Our celebration includes remarks on the civil rights legacy of jazz by AJM Education Manager Bill McKemy, a performance of the Negro National Anthem "Lift Every Voice and Sing," a music performance by Eddie Moore Trio featuring vocalist Pamela Watson, reflections on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Rev. Kelsey Hopson, Pastor at St. Matthew A.M.E. Zion Church in Kansas City, MO., and a music performance by Ebony Chorale, directed by John Murray. This event is free and open to the public. |

The popular Jazz Poetry Jams relaunches with a hip new sound and a celebration of the roots with beatnik in the Blue Room featuring Brooklyn-based poet Tai Allen. A unique and refreshing artist, Tai has established a reputation as a visionary with impeccable work ethic. Allen will lead a poetry workshop beginning at 5:30 pm at the American Jazz Museum that is free and open to the public. |
